Bringing Value to our Residential Clients

Bringing Value to our Residential Clients

Commercial Innovations

As an ISO14001:2015 accredited company, low carbon, sustainable and energy efficient design is a central element at the heart of our processes. DB3 use an Internal Quality Management System (IQMS) electronic interface.  This is a bespoke system encapsulating a file management system with environmental and quality management elements alongside costing and risk tools. This is the interface by which we deliver all projects. Also embedded within IQMS is an Environmental Management System (EMS) checklist for projects, outlining in depth sustainable factors to be considered as part of our services.

BIM

Working with others, we use BIM modelling techniques to help optimise our designs and the delivery of the brief.  DB3 can utilise BIM technology in the realisation of all residential projects. The use of this innovative technology increases the co-ordination between the Design Team and therefore reduces the risk of errors on site. It can also be used to reduce material waste in a project, determine the extent of cut and fill on a site, and create computer simulations of how the buildings will perform environmentally.

Working within your Budget

Working within your Budget

We understand the need to work to a budget and work alongside your QS team to ensure that budget is understood and tested at various stages of the design. At the same time adopting a whole life costing approach when considering choices. This is particularly important given the requirement to consider (and implement) best practice with regards to carbon reduction and the sustainability of the scheme.

We develop designs along the lines of a fabric first approach to CO2 reduction and collaborate with M&E engineers to develop the best solution/s for heating, ventilation etc. We particularly focus on the need for robust detailing together with low carbon technologies. Options can be considered to understand capital costs versus sustainable on-site energy production to create ‘value’. The use of modelling techniques can assist this process.

Our designs adhere to the employer’s requirements of our clients, whilst also allowing contractors a degree of flexibility. Contractors can then put forward solutions that best suit their ways of working, their supply chain and alternative ideas, which can ultimately add value to your project.

High Quality Results

High Quality Results

Off-site construction techniques are wide and varied and we have good experience of working with off-site specialists including MMC, Timber frame, Volumetric and panelised methods. Our flexible design approach mean off-site methods are not being ignored, in the knowledge that off-site manufacture can improve quality, robustness, airtightness etc.

Selection and specification of materials will be based upon lifetime robustness, local supply and minimisation of waste and carbon footprint as well as affordability.

We would recommend our services are retained at construction stage to ensure agreed quality parameters are being met, though site inspection and off site inspection.

Delivering Social Value

Delivering Social Value

We are strongly focussed on listening to the Community and designing to create vibrant, safe and strong communities through place making.

We take pride in design developments which put people first, as we believe this adds value to any asset or investment. Key aspects we will consider when designing our schemes are:

  • People first objective
  • Simple but elegant architecture to create a strong sense of place and context with the wider community
  • Safety – by recognising best practice in terms of Highway safety and Secure by Design
  • Listening – consulting with the community at various stages of the design development.
