  • Sustainable water reclamation
  • Mechanical and natural ventilation systems
  • Air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Specialist piped services such as compressed air, steam and medical gases.
  • District heating and cooling systems
  • Heating systems
  • Integration of alternative and renewable technologies such as ground/air source heat pumps, biomass systems, tri-generation chiller.
  • Total building managements system and automatic controls for building services systems

Electrical Design

  • Liaising with local supply authorities
  • Tender analysis and on-site cost control
  • Design of electrical installations to BS7671 and all other relevant statutory instruments and British Standards/European North documents
  • Design of back up power systems utilising generators and UPS systems.
  • Production of specifications and drawings from inception through to the construction phases of a project following the RIBA stages of project design.

DB3 also provide detailed design services in the following systems:

  • Incoming electrical distribution (private or public network)
  • Sub mains distribution including discrimination and protection studies
  • Small power systems
  • General lighting and automatic lighting control
  • Emergency lighting

Energy Calculations

Energy Calculations

DB3 are accredited to provide energy and carbon emission calculations, certificates and reports for buildings.

The implementation of the Energy Performance for Buildings Directive (EPBD) alongside the need to reduce energy consumption in new construction means that sustainability and energy efficiency is at the forefront of all new and existing building design. We recognise the importance of this and have invested time and resources to register as a ‘Low Carbon Consultant & Low Carbon Energy Assessors’ via the UK Government Accredited CIBSE Certification Register. Our inclusion on the register shows us to be competent to minimise energy use and carbon emissions from buildings both in design and operation.

Sustainable Design Approach

Sustainable Design Approach

Our in-house expertise allows us to provide the back up to the project architect to develop the buildings sustainable design approach by providing:

  • Renewable & Sustainable Technology Reporting for developments in line with Building Regulation Part L2 and BREEAM requirements where applicable
  • Dynamic Simulation Models (DSM) to Level 5 standard (complex buildings)
  • Thermal Modelling for buildings to review energy performance, carbon footprint and overheating analysis
  • BRUKL Output documents – iSBEM calculations for L2A compliance reporting
  • ENERGY Performance Certificates and lodgement with the Land Registry
  • Compliance reports for particular sectors and specialisations

For existing buildings we provide a ‘health check’ report highlighting the performance of the building services and fabric against published benchmarks.
