Live Project

Completed: Helensburgh Waterfront Development

This award-winning project is now open to the public.

DB3 were appointed to provide Argyll and Bute Council with design support for a new leisure centre on the Helensburgh Waterfront Development, RIBA Stages 3 to 6.

The ambitious project saw us working in partnership with civil, structural and geotechnical engineers to deliver the complex and technical project. This involved designing and building a new leisure centre featuring a 25 metre main pool with 6 lanes, studio pool with moveable floor, studios and gyms.

The project also includes flood defences and additional environmental improvements. These enhancements to the current site include better lighting, public open spaces and a walkway around the pier, a prominent feature of the town.

Client: Argyll & Bute Council
Location: Helensburgh, Scotland
Value: £22m

School Visit

Our DB3 Sports and Leisure team presented the design of the building and their role of the Architect to the children. Contractor Heron Bros as well as the Structural Engineer and QS also presented during the visit.

We were delighted to see that the children were in particularly interested in the sustainable aspects of the building. Although slightly disappointed by the lack of climbing wall, the students were very enthusiastic about the building overall.

A second school visit is taking place on the 3rd of December.
