Jamie's Revit-ing Experience

At DB3 we firmly believe that gaining experience on the job is invaluable. So to mark National Apprenticeship Week, we had a chat with Jamie Farnell, who is currently on a 12 month work placement with us as part of his BSc Architecture Technology degree at Sheffield Hallam University.

Although not a compulsory part of the degree, Jamie took it upon himself to find a work placement between his second and final year. After a lot of perseverance the opportunity to gain experience at DB3 Architecture presented itself and the rest is history.

Since joining our head office in Monk Fryston in Leeds last September, Jamie has been involved with over seven projects working with DB3 clients such as Co-op and Marks and Spencers, as well as Barnsley College and Wyke Manor Community Sports Village.

Visualisation

Jamie has been involved in the creation of a complete Revit model for our client Yonder covering design, visualisation and building information for their Mechanical and Electrical systems to be modelled. It’s not just us who have been wowed by the work produced by Jamie so far.

The Lead BIM Co-ordinator at Yonder messaged to say that Jamie produced “one of the most complete and quality architecture models I’ve ever had to be honest”.

The variety of projects has meant that Jamie has worked with different teams and benefited from not just one mentor.

“I hadn’t expected the huge learning curve and the vast amount of detailing that needs to be considered, making it a massive leap ahead from the work I did for university projects. Working at DB3 has confirmed to me that becoming an Architectural Technician is not only my ambition but also passion.”

We at DB3 are proud to support aspiring Architects of the future, so if you are currently studying and seeking on the job experience then please get in touch with us.
