Leighton Leisure & Community Centre

Leighton Leisure and Community Centre marks the latest chapter in our long standing partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council. Appointed to deliver the Architecture, MEP engineering and Technical Advisor services, this is the fourth leisure facility we have completed together, following the recent opening of Houghton Regis Leisure Centre.

Located in the growing community of Clipstone Park, the two storey building offers a wide range of amenities and supports the council’s wider leisure strategy.

Key features:

  • An eight lane, 25 metre swimming pool
  • A learner pool with a movable floor
  • A dedicated splash pool for young children
  • A 150-station gym
  • Consultation rooms and a suite of multi-purpose studios
  • Squash courts
  • A café and social space

Creating an Efficient Building

Environmental performance was considered throughout the design process, ensuring the new leisure centre delivers long term efficiency.

Key sustainability measures include:

  • High performance insulation and glazing to minimise heat loss
  • Energy efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
  • Sustainable drainage (SuDS) to improve rainwater management and support biodiversity
  • Material selection based on durability, environmental performance and whole life value
  • BIM Level 2 digital design and coordination to reduce waste and optimise construction efficiency
